We know you missed us a lot! April Meetup did not take place cause Easter et al. May Nodejs Meetup is back! This time with our fellow .NET (https://www.meetup.com/Thessaloniki-NET-Meetup/) folks. The upcoming Node.js meetup is a special edition cause we will have many guests joining us inlcudiung the awesome Toptal team. Our meetup lineup, Asia Lindsay from Toptal will present `How Remote Work and Freelancing is Changing the World`. James Halliday(DEVit speaker (http://devitconf.org/workshops-all-day/2017/james-halliday--cutting-edge-web-technology-whirlwind/)) will present 'Live coding a webgl+webaudio demo from zero' and professors Alexander Chatzigeorgiou (https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexanderchatzigeorgiou/?ppe=1) & Apostolos Ampatzoglou (https://www.linkedin.com/in/apostolos-ampatzoglou-94a1711b/?ppe=1) will share their knowledge on Technical debt.

As you can see, this is like a mini-conference so DO NOT MISS IT by any chance. We'll have surprises (DEVit tickets anyone?) and this time the meetup will offer food and beverages, courtesy of Toptal (https://www.toptal.com/) who is joining our awesome sponsors. So, big thanks to them for the support!

You can also win a free pass for the ReactJS Workshop (http://goldengatepro.com/reactjs_workshop.html) at 10-11/06, orginized by Thessaloniki's Coding Academy, Golden Gate Pro (http://goldengatepro.com/).

19:00 - 19:45 Technical Debt: Introduction, Empirical Studies and Industrial Experience

Technical debt (also known as design debt or code debt) is "a concept in programming that reflects the extra development work that arises when code that is easy to implement in the short run is used instead of applying the best overall solution".

19:45 - 20:15 Food and beverages

20:15 - 21:00 Live coding a webgl+webaudio demo from zero

James Halliday (https://twitter.com/substack) uses the web and the javascript ecosystem to build p2p offline tools, maps, and webgl visuals. He is the author of browserify and a prominent member of the Node community with more than 750 packages at npm. James will live code a webgl demo from scratch using regl+glslify and then add some live coded procedurally generated music using the web audio API. Pure awesomeness!

Asia Lindsay (https://twitter.com/AsiaLindsay): Born in Hong Kong, schooled at Oxford and now living everywhere and nowhere as a digital nomad, Asia leads the Europe community for Toptal, a network of the top 3% of developers, designers and financial talent. Prior to Toptal she worked on growing the community at TED and Sandbox. Asia will be covering topics like related to remote work best practices, digital nomadism, and how freelancing can change your life.
