ThingsCon Salon #9: Workshop Lancel/Maat

Details
Designing a Visual Toolkit for offline behaviour
How do we interpret someone’s intentions when entering our private space in public.
In this workshop we will design a signal system for communication based on movement and (abstract) image.
Based on the Toolkit for Dance by ICK we will design new items for movement and communication about distance.
We will be using ‘real’ materials during this 2 hour workshop, and make a simple test situation, simulating technical possibilities.
Artist duo and researchers Karen Lancel and Hermen Maat (https://www.lancelmaat.nl) explore the tension between embodied presence, intimacy, privacy and trust in current social-technological systems. They radically turn upside down automated control technologies, bio-feedback and sensory perception, to create 'Trust-Systems' for intimate meeting experiences.
This workshop will run from 16:00-18:00 hrs and have limited capacity.
