July Thinking Box - What causes addiction and the future of driverless vehicles
In this Thinking Box we will begin discussing what causes addiction and specifically asking whether the traditional theory of addiction is profoundly wrong. After the video we will ask if you agree and what then are the implications? In the second half we will be discussing the future of driver-less vehicles which is our public discussion topic for the summer. We will be presenting the latest information and predictions on driver-less vehicles including some you probably wont have considered and then discussing the implications for individuals and society. Autonomous vehicles (AVs) are already upon us but many questions remain about how dramatically they might impact our lives. How do you feel about them and how much do you really know about the technology? How safe will they be, who should control the algorithms that control the AVs and how will employment be affected? These are just a few of the social and ethical dilemmas we might discuss. At the end of this session you will be able to express your views via a live online survey - bring your phones! What we're about

For full details of Thinking Box visit

Our Meet Ups show a selection of the world's best talks by the world's best speakers from the website such as, Upworthy and YouTube. We might show 6 talks including 2 'feature presentations' which we subsequently discuss.

The discussions are facilitated and begin in very small groups (pairs or 3s) so people can share ideas in a very safe environment and then we open it up to the whole group for further discussion.
