What is Time Series: An Intro with Sebastian Borza and Tim Yocum

Sebastian and Tim will introduce you to all things time series, define what time series data is (and isn’t), how time series data differs from traditional data workloads, and demonstrate how InfluxDB stands out from other options.

Time Series at Scale - How Expedia is using Time Series in an Enterprise Environment

Sebastian Borza
Sebastian is an InfluxAce, one of our elite community members, and a software developer dedicated to metrics-driven engineering where proper data collection, storage and visualization help drive the narrative. Working as a linux systems administrator for many years Sebastian was an early adopter of the InfluxData stack and believes strongly that the key to any solid systems deployment + support is the ability to measure that system from all angles. An active member of the opensource community, he believes strongly in moving the dial from reactive to proactive alerting by using the data to help tell the story.

Tim Yocum
Tim is an engineering manager at InfluxData with over a decade of experience. His technical interests include high-performance, scalable, fault-tolerant cloud infrastructure on AWS, Google, and IBM cloud platforms as well as interconnected hybrid systems leveraging containerization and container orchestration wherever possible, and developing documentation, procedures, and processes that actually work.

Jim Regovich
Jim has been working in the enterprise/infrastructure management and monitoring space for almost 20 years, becoming an expert in many aspects of IT operations. First as an engineer managing monitoring systems for a large ISP, developing tools and automation to enhance capabilities and provide accurate data for alerting as well as billing applications. As a consultant in the enterprise management software field, he brought my experience and knowledge together to help customer realize real, immediate value from their software purchases, providing first class implementation services as well as high quality integrations to home grown and third-party applications. He currently serves as a senior engineer and technical leader for the monitoring team at Orbitz, enhancing out tools to encompass the needs of a more dynamic, continuous delivery world.
