At this FREE April salon Laura will be demonstrating some of the fine sewing techniques you will be using for making Victorian and Edwardian lingerie. These techniques are also wonderful for other garments of the era or for any time you want an especially fine look to your project. If you wish to practice these techniques at the salon please bring the following:
1. Your machine, in good working order. Oil the night before, please.
2. Two universal or sharp machine needles, size 9 or 10.
3. White thread.
4. A piece of lightweight cotton to practice on. Please do not bring poly/cotton blends, linen, or stretch fabrics.
5. If you have a tiny pair of sharp embroidery scissors bring those, but don't go out and buy unless you really want to.
6. Pieces of lace with at least one straight edge. Best results are achieved with a combination of double edged and single edged lace. Beading and eyelet also are fun.
Please note--this is different than the actual workshop in which you will be making your very own pair of Victorian knickers.

The Salon and Stitch & Bitch is our monthly gathering. Please see our event schedule on our page:
This is a casual, monthly gathering. The meetup starts off with a short talk, demo or discussion (the Salon) given by a member, and is followed with space and company to work on your own costume projects. This is a great way to meet other costumers and share interests and learn new skills.
Bring your own supplies, sewing machine ( extension cord a good idea) , and a snack to share. Coffee cups with lids strongly suggested.
This event is free and open to the public.

Who is the Time Travelers Costume Guild?
We are in our fourth year of being an official 501c3 educational arts non-profit. We hold monthly gatherings, annual workshops, dress up opportunities and themed parties. We held over 48 events in 2018!
We have over 60 members in the Portland/Vancouver Metro area, and few from slightly farther away. We are multi-genre, and diverse by design. Our membership includes historical costumers, fantasy, Steampunk, and cosplayers, just to name o few of our members' interests.
You do not need to know how to sew to be included-- many of our members put together their outfits from thrift store and vintage finds.
The mission of the Time Travelers Costume Guild is to encourage and facilitate the study, appreciation, creation and wearing of costumes as an art form.
