What we're about

Some voices are starting to claim that programmers will be the blue collars of the future. In such a setting, the freelancers might be the middle class.

As in the wider Romanian society, within the IT sub-population, this potential middle class is still a very tiny layer, struggling to thrive. In some way, here, in a post-communist country, it still operates against and not within the system that has not evolved enough to recognize this novel category as “self”.

Being part of the Romanian tech industry’s freelancing layer is not bringing one in a recognizable, organized “falange”, but most often keeps individuals separated, acting in most of the cases as snipers equipped with the best possible gear, aiming at the most important targets but forced to often spend their time hidden in their grooves, totally ignored (and sometimes, when stress stacks up, striving to be totally ignored) not only by foes but also by friends...

In such a paradigm, the need to aggregate, to discuss, to learn to share and to revolve coach/mentor/peer roles, to expose tools, resources, practices, clients (when allowed), has to be recognized and satisfied by setting up and running a meetup group dedicated to freelancers.
