The tech industry is now over half a century old and we can’t really call ourselves young anymore, especially since the pioneering part is already long forgotten. Software development is entering the stage of a regular traditional job, although previously it was considered the industry for youngsters.

That transition brought a lot of questions that remained unanswered regarding the status of an older developer in a demographically younger environment.

How do older developers fit in with the younger generation? Will they be able to continue developing software until their pension? What are the prospects for older developers? Do they have to start looking out for a job outside the field? Or can they put their grey hairs to their (and the team's) advantage?

We’ve got Michiel de Wit to answer all of those questions in a single talk. He will show examples of older developers on what they actually did, and how they managed to stay relevant. He will question the traditional Developer – Team lead – Project leader career path and show how Agile actually opens up a whole new set of possibilities.

Michiel is the co-founder of start.me and seasoned developer, Scrum master and Agile Coach. He has got over 20 years of experience in developing products from classic Windows COM+ applications to Ruby on Rails, Prolog and Delphi.

The event is taking place on the 21st of March, we strongly suggest that you confirm your place at Tinel Meetup #22 - you’re in for a treat!
