A Toastmasters meeting is divided into three sections.
The first one is called 'Prepared Speeches' wherein members deliver speeches crafted to specifically meet objectives set out from various manuals. These objectives focus on perfecting one skill at a time - the skills ranging from body language, vocal variety to research to persuading and inspiring an audience.
The second section is called Table Topics which involves impromptu speeches. A Table Topic Master gives out topics to various members from the audience and the latter attempts to speak on the topic without any preparation. This section improves your ability to think on your feet and communicate random ideas clearly to an audience.
The last section is called Evaluation. The prepared speeches delivered earlier are evaluated against the objectives and the speaker is given appreciation on strengths and feedback on areas of improvement. The evaluation section also covers feedback on the general ethics, meeting etiquette, camaraderie and scope for improvement.
Each meeting is a learning experience on its own.
Guests are welcome. Please login on time.
