What we're about
Toastmasters District 77 represents about 1000 members in 90 clubs in Alabama, SE Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle. Our Clubs provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every individual member has the opportunity to develop oral communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. Membership in Toastmasters is one of the greatest investments you can make in yourself. At $36 every six months, it is also one of the most cost-effective skill-building tools available anywhere. (Individual clubs may also charge club dues to cover the club’s expenses.) How Does It Work? A Toastmasters meeting is a learn-by-doing workshop in which participants hone their speaking and leadership skills in a no-pressure atmosphere. There is no instructor in a Toastmasters meeting. Instead, members evaluate one another’s presentations. This feedback process is a key part of the program’s success. Meeting participants also give impromptu talks on assigned topics, conduct meetings and develop skills such as time management, grammar and giving feedback. Most clubs are community clubs open to anyone, although some clubs are company clubs that limit membership to their employees.
