DevOps with Guardrails & Emerging Cyber Threats and Security in the Cloud

  • 6:00pm: Refreshments & Snacks

    6:25pm: Presentation

Skill Level: Intermediate (should already have a good idea about basic cloud concepts)

For our first 2017 Meetup, Jeremy Snyder, VP Business Development at Divvycloud will be joining us to talk about the demands of modern business and the need for developers to move fast!

Overview: “Deploy early, deploy quickly, deploy often” has become a mantra. Application deployment now includes software-defined infrastructure, whether in the form of cloud or containers. But how do you ensure that as you build and launch, and as configuration drift happens, you’re not violating key organizational requirements for security and policy compliance? In this talk, we’ll discuss a proven, successful approach to providing guard rails at the infrastructure and data storage layers. Organizations can implement policies at a global, business unit or application level with technical controls. When issues are found, customers can leverage automation systems to react in near-real time with their preferred response, ranging from simple alerts to complex workflows.

Amy Bogroff, Sales Engineer at Alert Logic, will ALSO be joining us to talk about the emerging cyber threats and security in the cloud.

Overview:Infrastructure has changed, and with it the threat landscape has changed. We’ll cover some of the trends in modern cybercrime as well as challenges and best practices in protecting your environments from these threats.

Presenter Bio: Amy Bogroff is a New York-based sales engineer at Alert Logic, where she enjoys helping customers of all sizes achieve security and compliance goals. Prior to Alert Logic, she worked at RSA, IBM, and several smaller organizations, with a background in Identity and Access Management, Configuration Management, and Application Performance Management. She holds CISSP, CCSK, and AWS Solutions Architect - Associate certifications.

I know nothing about AWS or Dev-Ops. Would this be a meetup for me? Or is it for working professionals mainly?
