Mark Morris Dance Group: Pepperland
This will be one of the 2018 Toronto culture events not to miss! Will you be there? Canadian Premiere. 6 new dance pieces. Choreographer Mark Morris, hailed by the New York Times as “the most successful and influential choreographer alive, and indisputably the most musical,” returns to Toronto with “Pepperland”, a unique tribute to the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ ground-breaking album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Named One of the “Top 10 Dance Shows of 2017” by The Guardian and “Show of the Year” by The (London) Times. Accompanied live by an unprecedented chamber music ensemble of voice, soprano saxophone, two keyboards, theremin and percussion, Ethan Iverson’s original score intermingles six Pepper-inspired original pieces intended especially for Morris’s profound understanding of classical forms with arrangements of the songs Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, With a Little Help From My Friends, A Day in the Life, When I’m Sixty-Four, Within You Without You and Penny Lane. Mark Morris seems to come through Toronto every 5 years or so. I have been lucky enough to seem them perform twice, and I can't wait to see this show. https://markmorrisdancegroup.org/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jwqjq8LXz0w DETAILS: There are many excellent floor seats left in the $75 price range. We have a promo code to save 15% (the tax i guess). Use DANCE https://www1.ticketmaster.ca/event/100052A43771D068 (note: we don't have group seats, but will meet beforehand, and after if interest) Also of great interest to some of you: Also taking place at The Sony Centre on Saturday, February 24 at 11 a.m. is a free ‘Dancing With Parkinson’s’ (DWP) Master Class with MMDG dancers, David Leventhal and Sam Black. DWP is inspired by the revolutionary Dance for Parkinson’s Disease program initiated by the MMDG to help increase awareness and control of movements among adults living with the disease. Following the master class, ‘Dancing With Parkinson’s’ is holding its 10th annual fundraiser from 12-2pm featuring an exciting afternoon of food, fun, great entertainment, a silent auction and of course, dancing! DWP was founded in Canada by Sarah Robichaud. For more information visit www.dancingwithparkinsons.com. A top-tier group of some of the world’s leading arts present. Final note: We will meet for a pre-show drink at 7pm. For those interested, connect with me for details/location at: torontoisculture@gmail.com Greg

What we're about

Public Group

An awesome place for fellow Arts and Culture lovers around our city to meet, attend and organize events, share ideas and interests!

Join us as we explore Toronto galleries, museums, fairs, and the best in international films, theatre, opera, food, dance, architecture/design, music and the avant-garde.

We will be active with many of the festivals and fairs that take place throughout the year.

Above all we want to create leading events where people can make new friends while enjoying common interests.

We ask that if you are joining us, you make Toronto Arts & Culture, one of your Top 3 Toronto Meetup groups. Some of our events are quite large, some are intimate. If we can't find you, pls try and find us as best you can. If we are not able to connect up, if you are new to our group..don't give up, try again, as we will do! After 3-5 times coming out, you will have made some new arts & culture friends.

If you need to change/update your RSVP, please do so in a timely and professional manner. When you join, try and get a picture posted and a bit of info about yourself...its helps in identification at events.

Some of our events are ticketed, some have service charges, but the majority are free.

We look forward to meeting you soon!
