What we're about

Welcome to Toronto Code Mentoring!

This is a group for all levels of coders who work with code. Whether you've never written a line of code in your life, or you're a seasoned code-monkey, this group is for you! We meet up regularly on weekends and provide an easy environment to learn how to code, improve your skills, or if you feel you're good enough, help out with mentoring.

Beginner Sundays - FREE Coding Workshop

Maybe you've heard of coding, but it looks kind of complicated... and you don't know where to begin.
Or perhaps you've been game enough to try, you've downloaded an editor, wrote a few lines, but you're a bit confused. Maybe you're already well on your way, and just want to spend time in a happy community of developers (and want to share your passionate distaste of Internet Explorer). For those just starting out, this is the place for you...

Beginner Sundays is a free, monthly, interactive webinar aimed just for you, someone starting out. We run it on the first Sunday of every month. Don't worry if you've never coded before, or if none of it makes sense. We're here to help!
We'll guide you through the basics right from the beginning.
We focus mainly on web development, which includes HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Don't worry if you don't know what any of these are, you'll soon pick it up πŸ˜€

[THINGS TO NOTE]

  • This event is an INTERACTIVE webinar. This means we love questions and hearing your voice. If you feel comfortable, we ask that you come with a microphone and webcam so we can talk with everyone like we would in real life. It really makes the experience much better.
But please be aware that our webinars are recorded and posted to our YouTube channel, so you can alternatively interact via chat if you prefer.
  • Speak up! We love people asking questions. Don't be afraid of interrupting the Mentor
  • If you have a very noisy environment (kids, traffic, etc) please mute yourself when you're not talking

[FORMAT]

  • 8 - 8:15 am: General meet and greet. Introduce yourself to the Mentor and other coders πŸ‘‹
  • 8:15 - 9am: The Mentor will present a easy to handle topic to get you started on your coding journey
  • 9 - 9:15am: Question time!
  • 9:15 - 9:30+ am: Socialising and hanging out. Feel free to stay on as long as you like

So join us on the first Sunday of each month on Jitsi, and help us build the best community for learning on the web and growing as people!
