This event will feature Mitchell Kowalski (http://kowalski.ca/) who was recognized as a Fastcase 50 Global Legal Innovator in 2012, and is the author of the critically acclaimed American Bar Association best-seller, Avoiding Extinction: Reimagining Legal Services for the 21st Century. Mitch is a regular contributor to The Legal Post.

Panelists will include:

· Cian O’Sullivan: Top Dog & Founder of Beagle.ai, (http://beagle.ai/) who just won the Canadian Bar Association’s Pitch competition for legal tech after demonstrating Beagle’s product that uses artificial intelligence to analyze contracts and facilitate real-time collaboration and review of documents.

· Mona Datt: Co-founder of Loom Analytics (http://www.loomanalytics.com/), who built “Moneyball” for Lawyers and recently joined the LegalX Cluster at the MaRS Discovery District.

· Rob Warren Ph.D.: Chief Data Scientist of Kira Systems (https://kirasystems.com/), who lectures all over the world on machine learning, database systems and information retrieval. Kira Systems is a software already adopted by Clifford Chance that can search and analyze agreements and can even be trained.

· Josh Borts: Co-founder of Functional Imperative (http://www.functionalimperative.com/) and Lighthouse Labs (https://www.lighthouselabs.ca/) has built and traded algorithmic trading systems in a number of locations across Asia, Europe and North America and worked for USAID in Mali to develop mobile compression technology for SAP.

Toronto Legal Hackers hopes to introduce a diverse audience to the concepts behind cognitive computing, how legal research tools developed with this technology differ from traditional databases and the potential implications for the legal profession.
