Applied Data Science in FinTech

Join the host, Vik Pant (https://www.linkedin.com/in/vikpant), as he convenes a panel with data science practitioners to discuss the application of machine intelligence to FinTech scenarios. This session will start with a brief presentation by Roy Kao (https://www.linkedin.com/in/roykao/). He will highlight services and support that are offered by MaRS to ventures in the Commerce and Finance domain. Then, Lindsay Farber (https://www.linkedin.com/in/lindsayefarber/), Maureen Gartner (https://www.linkedin.com/in/maureen-gartner-6b11124/), and Saroop Bharwani (https://www.linkedin.com/in/saroopbharwani/) will discuss practical applications of artificial intelligence in FinTech use cases. Lindsay is the Senior Data Scientist and leads the Business Intelligence team at MoneyKey. She earned her PhD from McMaster University in Neuroscience. Maureen is an Analytics Manager at FreshBooks. She earned her M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth University. Saroop is an alumnus of Next AI and is a Co-Founder of Senso as well as the Founder of Frictionless. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of Engineering Systems and Computing Co-op from University of Guelph.

These industry professionals are in a great position to discuss the application of AI in the FinTech domain. The format of this conversation will be a free flowing and easy going discussion between the panelists. Panelists will discuss the types of problems that they solve with machine learning, the tools they use, the challenges they face, and data science jobs in their organizations. Attendees will get the opportunity to network with each other as well as with the host and the panelists. There will also be sufficient time for audience questions for the host and panelists.
