May Tech Talks - CQRS, Event Sourcing and You

Hello Alchemists! To kickoff the summer we'll be meeting on Thursday May 30th at the PagerDuty offices (King St West & Strachan). Doors will open around 6:30pm with talks starting at 7pm. This month's focus will be on CQRS/Event Sourcing. Both beginners and experts alike can come and learn more about this architectural pattern for building applications! First on stage we will have Ben Moss (https://bitfield.co) with his talk "Implementing an Event sourcing/CQRS system in Elixir with Commanded" - A walkthrough on a practical implementation using the Commanded library. Shortly after Brent Jubinville (http://funnelcloud.io) will join us on the soapbox with a talk on CQRS and async - when / how to block and when / how not to, and some of the lessons learned with event sourcing. When you arrive at the office, take the elevator up to the 7th floor. There will be an iPad where you can sign in. ---------------------------------------------------- PagerDuty is the enterprise incident resolution service that integrates with ITOps and DevOps monitoring stacks to improve operational reliability and agility. From enriching and aggregating events to correlating them into incidents, PagerDuty streamlines the incident management process by reducing alert noise and resolution times.
