Talk 1 - A VR documentary about women's right to choose

The Choice is an in-development Virtual Reality documentary experience that takes you into diverse reasons and emotional struggles women might face when choosing abortion. It combines 6-DOF volumetric video interviews with impressionistic 3-dimensional illustrations to immerse you into the memories of real women as they tell you their stories. The goal is to destigmatize the subject of abortion and let the audience see it from a different perspective.

During the talk Joanne-Aśka Popińska & Tom C. Hall will talk about their storytelling and volumetric video techniques being used to develop this experience.There will be a technical demo available in Oculus Rift.

In the early days of the TorontoVR community it was not uncommon to see six or more laptops and Oculus Rift DK1’s out at each event. People sharing their projects ( alpha / prototypes / experiments / final projects ) was one of the most exciting parts about the community. As VR requirements increased it became incredibly difficult for people to share their work at events as they would have to bring a high pc.

Thanks to VRPlayin (http://vrplayin.ca/) we will have dedicated machines at each event for people to share their work. If anyone has demo’s, prototypes, experiments or projects they wish to share that work on the VIVE all you have to do is bring your project on a USB drive!
