TALK #1 :: "The Victorious Athlete, an ancient statue in Augmented Reality" with Shachar Weis from Packet39

Augmented Reality can change the way museum visitors experience and interpret ancient art. “A Victorious Athlete in Augmented Reality” is an app that reveals the lost history of one of the Getty Villa’s most prized possessions, a life-sized bronze statue from ancient Greece. The app encourages inquiry and rewards visitors with a deeper understanding of a spectacular museum object. It is part of the extended series “Colors of Antiquity – seeing ancient polychromy through Augmented Reality.” In this talk we'll review the bumpy road we walked from inception to a functioning AR app.

TALK #2 :: "Survivor Man VR" with Irene Vandertop from Cream

Come hear Cream Productions share their story about the creation of Survivor Man VR. Here's the premise: you survived a helicopter crash on a mountain, with nothing around but snow and the aircraft wreckage. As the only survivor, you must rely on your ingenuity and skills to use what's around you to make it down the mountain alive, before you freeze to death. But fear not; you are joined by survival expert Les Stroud, who appears as a vision, to guide you (or mock you as you fail). Survivorman is a game of endurance, smarts and skill, with challenges based on real-world survival scenarios.

Survivorman VR is a game for Quest 2 by Cream Productions in partnership with Les Stroud Productions, and financed by the Canada Media Fund, Ontario Creates and Meta. The digital character of Les Stroud is created using Dynamic Digital Humans (DDH), developed by Cream in partnership with SIRT.
