Nous sommes des francophones bilingues. Les couples francophones sont évidemment tous les bienvenues !
This is a group for people who are at least moderately to extremely active, fit and enjoy doing multiple sports and social events as a couple. There are many types singles groups, but not as many for life partners who really enjoy each other’s company during non-work time and seek linked-minded couples for training and sports. This is an "inclusive" couples group though and we welcome diversity, including age, ethnicity or sexual orientation.
What this group IS NOT:
- Not solely dedicated to parenting issues (we have six kids so believe us, if we wanted to talk about the kids we could ... and often do! :-), so this is not a moms only or dads only support group. - Not about fixing relationship issues. - Not about the "Lifestyle". - Not about girls nights out or guys playing poker with cigars and scotch. - Not for leisurely, short walks, but not just for over-achieving Olympic athletes either. - Not about extensive, elitist conversations dedicated to latest gear, how many grams your bike weighs, or the latest expensive, trendy equipment. - Not about general socializing at a pub.
Again, there are many sites, groups and resources for singles and specific ages, sexual orientations, faiths, beliefs, social interests and political beliefs. Many of these are fun, helpful, educational and often really interesting. No question. Just not the aim here.
So what this group IS:
Again, this is meant for couples who are more than just a little bit fit and active (or at least seriously committed to becoming fit). It is for couples who are dedicated, respectful and who love sports as they continue to age and simply enjoy doing things with their best friend. It is meant to be drama-free, non-gossipy, respectful and fun. It is for couples who want to meet other fun-loving, healthy, active sport-loving, active couples.
If the following examples of activities interest you as a couple, this group may be for you:
- Relatively serious and at times quite strenuous fitness activities. - Hiking (though not always extreme) in the Gatineau Park or even weekend getaways in the Adirondacks High Peaks Region. - Triathlon training (yes, including: swimming such as in Meech Lake; running; and biking). - Cycling in the Gatineau Park, around the region and elsewhere (e.g. Montreal's informal and fun GoBike Festival). - Running (creating teams for races such as Ottawa Race weekend, etc). - Kayaking and paddle boarding. - Cross country or skate skiing and snowshoeing. - Squash and racquetball. - Touch football and softball. - Spinning classes - Sport relays including duathlons and triathlons. - Possible health and fitness-related trips if and when connections form. - Social-related gatherings that may spontaneously occur, such as lunches, healthy "foodie" dinners, and even beer and wine tastings that may come up like-minded health-conscious, life-loving, drama-free couples get together -- especially after an awesome workout!
... and if friendships develop, then that's great too.
