Requirements on Kilimanjaro Climbing Kilimanjaro does not require high mountaineering skills, but it requires a high level of endurance and altitude tolerance. The walking times of each daily stage are approximately 5-7 hours (usually 12-14 hours on the summit day) in extremely varied terrain. Marshes, thickets, rocks, and scree must be overcome. The increasingly thin air, cold, and steeply ascending path of the last stage to the summit demand good physical fitness and conditioning. It is recommended to have your heart and circulation checked before your trip since exertion and high altitude significantly strain the body.Additional Notes: Traveling to a developing country can involve unforeseen circumstances. Tolerance, patience, and camaraderie are important requirements for a good tour and unforgettable experiences. An adventurous spirit will help you overcome tour delays or even changes due to bad weather, governmental orders, technical malfunctions, or other reasons. On the Kilimanjaro climb, there are very simple squat toilets at the camps. We offer a mobile, private toilet for an additional fee of 250 USD.

---With today's technology, it has become so easy to spend time in the mountains without any navigation skills. All the apps and modern tools that now exist are amazing and it would be a shame not to use them, however, it's also really important to be able to be in the mountains without them.
During this snowshoe hike by the famous and stunning Mythen, the focus will be on learning or getting a refresher about how to use basic navigation tools: map, compass, features around us...
This trip is led by Celine Kahn, mountain leader.
What's the plan?
We will meet at 09.00 at Brunni SZ, Rest. Brunni bus stop. The focus of the day will be to improve your navigation skills. For that, the day will be split into stages, alternating walking times and various activities.Stage 1: Introduction of the navigation tools
Learn to read the map with its main features and legend, plan our itinerary, understand the compass.Stage 2: Where am I?
Locate yourself on the map using features around you.Stage 3: What is around me?
Knowing where you are on the map, identify the summits and other features around you using your map and compass. Learn to read your surrounding landscape.Stage 4: Find your way without visibility
Using our compass and azimuth bearings, we will play some games to practice having to move on a terrain without any visibility (snow, fog...).Technical information

----Join us for this avalanche course in Flumserberg. In order to enjoy the mountains safely all year round, reading the terrain you’re playing on and understanding the avalanche danger is a must. With all winter sports that take you outside of the secured slopes and paths (snowshoeing, off-piste skiing, ski touring, etc.), one has to not only understand and prevent the danger, but also be equipped and ready to respond in case of an accident. Under the instruction of a mountain leader, you will learn the basics of avalanches and how to properly use a transceiver, probe and shovel.
This trip is led by Celine Kahn, mountain leader.
What's the plan?
Meet at Flumserberg, Tannenheim at 09:15. We take the cable car to Prodalp and start with some theory at Prodalp Bergrestaurant. After approx. 2 hours of theory and a picnic or lunch at the restaurant (up to you), we head out and use the terrain to do various exercises in the snow.
At the end of the day, you will be able to:- Read, understand and make use of the avalanche bulletin
- Understand the 3-by-3 method to plan your snowshoe or ski tours safely
- Measure the slope inclination on the terrain
- Identify the different avalanche types
- Run group checks to make sure all transceivers in the group are up and running
- Rescue avalanche victims using your transceiver, probe and shovel
Avalanche knowledge is not something you learn in one day, it requires a lot of practice. During this basic course, you will be given the tools needed to keep learning and practicing the skills acquired.
