What we're about

This is a hiking group based mainly around the Wicklow and Dublin mountains. We will also do weekend hikes in other parts of Ireland and the occasional trip abroad.

The weekend hikes will be reasonably fast paced and if doing these hikes you are expected to have a good level of fitness and some hiking experience.
We welcome adults of all ages.

Unfortunately, as we often hike across private land, we cannot accommodate dogs on any hikes.

Hikes will vary in distance and ascent. If you are unsure if you have the required level of fitness you are welcome to come on one of the shorter hikes to try it out.

All hikes are free of charge.

There are no leaders on these hikes, there will be one or more organisers who will choose the route and everyone is responsible for their own safety during the hike.

Everyone is expected to have appropriate hiking gear, boots/trail shoes, warm clothes, waterproof jacket and trousers. No jeans. Head torch required on evening hikes during the darker months. Also bring sufficient food and water for the hike duration.

Having fun and a laugh along the way is not mandatory but is actively encouraged :) \

The Mourne Wall.

Needs a location

Folks, now an annual TB event, this is a 33km 2600m ascent walk, circumnavigating the Mourne Mountains. Ideally for hikers who can self-navigate and/or are experienced mountaineers. Please arrive at Carrick Little Car Park by 08.00hrs and ready for walking at 08.15hrs. This car park can be exceptionally busy this time of year even on weekdays and is also a small car park, so the earlier the better for a long hike. Organiser's decision will be final on attendees. If you are not sure, it's probably not for you!
Route: Carrick Little Car Park - Slieve Binnian (747m) - Wee Binian (460m) - Moolieve (332m) - Slievenaglogh (445m) Slieve Muck (674m) - Carn Mountain (588m) - Slieve Loughshannagh (619m) Slieve Meelbeg (708m) - Sleve Meelmore (687m) - Slieve Bearnagh (739m - involves a small bit of scrambling to reach the top) - Hares Gap - Diamond Rocks - Slieve Corragh - Slieve Commedagh (765m to the Cairn) - Slieve Donard (849m) Bog of Donard - Dunnywater - Head Road - Carrick Little car park.

The Lug Challenge

Needs a location

Folks, one of the longest challenges on the hiking calendar covering a distance of 53kms with a total ascent of 2290 metres, as per the Irish Ramblers official site who organise this annual event. This is an opportunity for fit and experienced hikers to participate as a TrailBlazer event. As this event will not take place until the end of July there is an opportunity here for hikers who feel their fitness is not at the level to complete this challenge to hike regularly with the Trail Blazers to increase their level of fitness.
We will meet at the finish point (Fentons Pub) at 6.15am and will provide transport to take us the short distance to Stone Park Forest Entrance to start the walk. The bus will leave Fentons at 6.30am sharp in order to start the walk at 7am. There will be a 12 hour window give or take, to complete the walk back to Fentons. There are approximately 12 peaks (4 Dublin, 8 Wicklow) to traverse, starting at Seahan and finishing at Lugnaquilla. There will be no official leaders on the day, however we will move off as a group. This hike may also prove useful for people involved in the many challenge hikes taking place throughout August, including The Mournes seven/sevens and The Fei Sheehy Challenge. Look forward to seeing you on the day.
