What we're about

This group was created to gather like-minded people who share the same goals: challenge themselves, explore nature, and get fit doing it! The events will be covering a range of hikes from beginner trails, to more advanced so there will be a hike for everyone. The group is really focused on conquering some peaks and more difficult hikes, so if you're looking to challenge yourselves along with us, we welcome you! Our hikes will explore trails all over Southern California. We will do hikes in Orange County, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, San Diego, and more!

We have a very diverse group of people, ranging in all ages and from all different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. We are a very welcoming group, so please come and join us whether it's for a great hike or community.

Suggestions are always welcome on must-see trails and great places to explore.

If you enjoy Trail Mix and the hikes we go on, a donation would be very much appreciated to help cover annual organizational fees and for time donated to keep this group fun and active!

This is a no drop, no person left behind group. We want everyone to feel welcome. The goal with this meetup is to hike as a group.

**Disclaimer** Trail Mix and it's organizers do not assume responsibility for any accident or injury that may occur during our meet-ups. You must assume all risks that are involved in our activities. Please always come prepared and know your personal limits.

Hike at Crystal Cove/Moro Canyon - Ridge Park Entrance/Bommer Ridge

Crystal Cove SP/Laguna Coast - Ridge Park Entrance (map)

This hike will be at Crystal Cove State Park. We will be doing part of the Moro Canyon trails. This hike will be about 7.5 miles with approximately 1,000 ft. of elevation gain. We are beginning at the Ridge Park Entrance (see the map for exact details on where to go.) This hike will take us from Bommer Ridge to Moro Ridge. We will take this all the way down to E. Cut Across, which turns into W. Cut Across. No Name Ridge will take us all of the way back to the beginning. This is one big loop! This will be a moderate+ level of difficulty for the hike. Parking is free on the street coming through this entrance. Here is a link to the park map: http://ocparks.com/civicax/filebank/blobdload.aspx?BlobID=45106 (Our starting point is shown on this map marked Ridge Park Public Access with a 9 next to it.) Here is another map just for Crystal Cove: http://www.parks.ca.gov/pages/644/files/ccsp_map_trail_distance_box.pdf Dogs are not allowed on these trails.

Hike at Caspers Wilderness Park - Bell Canyon + Oso Trail

Caspers Wilderness Park

The hike I am planning is around 6.3 miles with about 700 ft. of elevation gain. It starts at the very end of the paved road, the long gray strip that can be seen on the map. We will begin at the Bell Canyon Trail head. We will continue onto that and then take it to the Cougar Pass trail. We will go up that and make a left on Oso Trail. Once that ends, we will come back down Bell Canyon Trail until we hit Star Ridge Trail. We will take this to West Ridge Trail and go left. This will take us to a single track trail, Dick Loskorn Trail. This hits Nature Loops Trail and this will take us back to the beginning. This is a beautiful hike with expansive views. It is a nice and remote hike, so you are really out there in the wilderness. This is a relatively easy hike, so it is great for beginners that are looking to get out on the trails! If you have any questions regarding the park or the trails we will be on, please let me know! As you'll see on the map, most of the trails are fairly easy with just one part including steep hills. Here is a link to the park map: http://ocparks.com/civicax/filebank/blobdload.aspx?BlobID=8164 The address is: 33401 Ortega Hwy. San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675 Dogs are not allowed at this park. Parking is $5, unless you have an OC Parks Annual Permit. If you hike a lot, it's totally worth it: http://ocparks.com/about/fees/pass
