To celebrate the third anniversary of our discovery of the famed "Bullet Car" on December 28, 2013, let's return to the Bridal Veil Plateau and do the "Tour de Coupes" along unmarked, unmapped trails. It all started here:

On this trip, our trailhead starts off a very primitive gravel road. You will need a 4-wheel drive or AWD vehicle to do this drive. Others will need to leave cars at the Angel's Rest parking area. If you can drive, please leave a comment and how many you can take from the parking lot.

We begin with a visit to the Bullet Car, then loop along the Elk Meadow Trail to "El Tenedor del Diablo". From there we'll visit a little known viewpoint with views of Angel's Rest, then on to Copper Spigot Junction, "The Throne" and Wine Bottle Junction and the Mad Dog Barbeque. The "Coupes" include a 1976 Datsun and a 1980 Datsun.

This will be a wet hike on primitive and sometimes brushy trails. Rain pants and gaiters will be a good idea! I just hiked this area Sunday the 18th - back roads and trails were covered in snow and ice. Things might melt out by the 28th, but traction devices such as Yak Trax are advised!
