The focus of this group is to combine two of my interests, travel and books. The books can be classics, travel memoirs, current novels or recent books with a historical backdrop, but the one thing they all have in common is that they all take place in a foreign locale. And once in awhile we can choose a book that takes place in this country as well. This group is still in the planning stages, so any input will be appreciated. Since we’re all busy and don’t always have time to read a new book every month, I propose we meet every other month, on the last weekend of the month. The meeting place will probably be at a coffee house near my home in San Bruno. I am open to suggestions for future books to discuss in this group.
***Update***: We've changed this month's book to 'Homegoing' by Yaa Gyasi, as 'Ghosts' isn't widely available.
It's a bit last minute, so feel free to join even if you haven't finished the book!
Please bring an appetizer to share or drinks. In order to make sure that we have a good spread, post what you plan on bringing. Let's roughly aim for 2 people bringing drinks, 6 savory appetizers and 2 desserts.
The meeting will be at my home in Redwood City, and I'll send the address to participants a few days before the meetup.
Let me know if you have any questions!
