Lets visit the ghost town of Ferguson on Lake Marion

Details
We will meet at the campground landing at the end of Ferguson Landing Way. Bring $3.00 per car ( carpool if you can) for parking. The paddle starts with a 1.5 mile paddle to the partially submerged ruins of the logging town of Ferguson. We will be able to see the remains of a lumber kiln and foundations of the town on this island location. I will tell the history of this area during the trip. The town was built in 1881 by Francis Beidler and Benjamin Ferguson and used to harvest 165,000 acres of timber during it productive life. We can get out and explore if the water level permits. Afterward we will paddle over to a nearby island and explore that also. I figure about 3 hours total for maybe 4 to 4.5 miles of kayaking. Rental boats are $30.00 and can be reserved by calling Debbie at 843-697-2812. Please bring water, snacks or lunch, camera, and water shoes. If it is cold dress in layers.
