Kayaking Trip with Space Shuttle Launch

Ever seen a Space Shuttle Launch? How about watching it with one of the best seats available with no traffic and a completely unobstructed view from Mosquito Lagoon? That's where we're headed! On May 14 Space Shuttle Atlantis is launching from Kennedy Space Center and this is your chance to watch it live!

There are few things more exciting than watching a launch of one of our Space Shuttles. Let's kayak on the Space Shuttle Kayaking Tour by A Day Away Kayak Tours. You can see the shuttle launch pad from the kayak site straight across Mosquito Lagoon. Reportedly on most launches the shuttle travels North so it comes toward you and the roar of the engines across the open water is quite the heart pounding event. This is a beginner's trip and is a short (2 mile round trip) paddle.

We'll head out in the morning and meet at the launch site. We launch from the NW corner of Haulover Canal and paddle through the canal into scenic Mosquito Lagoon to watch the launch. Reserve your place on the tour and kayak at www.adayawaykayaktours.com. For only $35 we'll have a beautiful paddle and an awesome trip. Unfortunately a shuttle launch cannot be guaranteed as that is up to NASA. But even if the shuttle scrubs we'll have a wonderful time on the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Hi everyone! I spoke with Mike at A Day Away Kayak Tours today (4-7-10) and have a couple of updates:

• The tour only has about 20 spots left. So if you have not reserved your place/kayak and you really want to go, you should do so before the trip is completely booked. This trip does sell out and he expects it will be within the next 2 weeks.
• For those of you bringing your own kayaks - you need to call (321-268-2655) to reserve your place on the tour and the cost is $15. This covers the tour guide and liability issues.
• Can everyone who has reserved a kayak please update your RSVP comments to indicate you have reserved your kayak already so I can get an idea of where we stand with our group in comparison to the number of confimed RSVP's A Day Away Kayak Tours has. Thank you.
• We are meeting at the launch location on the day of the tour. As the event gets closer, if anyone wants to carpool we can post/organize that.
