What we're about

The TriState Ramblers is a fun group of people actively interested in the great outdoors. Hike with friendly people on trails throughout the NJ/NY/Pa. area all year long. In addition to our Meetups the TriState Ramblers Club (founded in 1938) offers a varied program of outdoor activities SIX DAYS a week, 52 weeks a year, for both beginner and experienced levels, providing wholesome recreation while contributing to physical fitness. Hike levels vary from Monday walks to Thursday's more challenging pace and distances of 8+ miles. We also offer canoeing and bicycling in season. Meetup members and guests are welcome to participate three times on a meetup or any other club event listed on our schedule before we ask you to join the TriState Ramblers Club for a $15 yearly fee.

The TriState Ramblers is a member of and contributes to NYNJ Trail Conference.

HIKE - SATURDAY, DECEMBER 14 – Tourne Park, Boonton Township

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 14 – Tourne Park, Boonton Township Leaders: Charlie Stepnowski,[masked] and Bijoy Mechery, cell[masked] Meet: 9:45 AM for 10 AM start. GPS address is 89 Old Boonton Rd., Denville, NJ 07834; go past maintenance shed to meet in the next parking lot on left. Hike 5 miles for 2-3 hours at a brisk pace on leaders’ choice of trails. Proper hiking boots required, traction devices if snow or ice is on the ground. Bring water. Please watch this site on the morning of the hike for any last minute changes/cancellations. If this is your third trial meetup event with the TSR Meetup group, we now ask you to join our TriState Ramblers Club for $15 for a yearly membership. By paying the club membership fee you will have a FULLER SCHEDULE of hikes, bike rides, and canoeing events 6 DAYS a week, all year long. Directions: TOURNE PARK – East Entrance, Boonton, NJCoordinates: N40° 54.46', W74° 25.95'(or N[masked]°, W[masked]°) a.From Morristown area, take I-287 north toward Boonton. Take Exit 44, at end of ramp, turn right on Main St. for 1.1 miles (Name changes to West Main St.). Turn right onto Hawkins Place for about 100 yards, then right onto Powerville Road (CR618). In 0.1 miles turn left onto McCaffrey Lane. Parking onright in 0.3 miles. Note: There is a second parking lot about ¼ mile further in McCaffrey Ln. Use first lotunless second lot is specified in schedule. b.From Rt 23, take I-287 south toward Boonton. Take exit 45, then left onto US 202. Take US 202 for 0.8 miles then turn right onto Main St. Then continue as in “a.” above.

HIKE - Jonathan Woods, Denville, NJ

Leader: Bill Reynolds, cell day of hike only,[masked], [masked] Meet: 10 AM in the parking lot. Directions: I-80 to Exit 37 (Hibernia/Green Pond Rd.) Head North on Green Pond for about 2 miles. Turn right on Meriden Rd. Go about 0.3 miles to Old Beach Glen Rd. and turn right. In about 0.2 miles, look for parking lot entrance on right. We will hike 5 miles on various trails at a social pace. Bring lunch, water and hiking boots. Watch this site on the morning of December 18 for any last minute changes/cancellations.

Hike - SUNDAY, DECEMBER 22 — Cheesequake State Park, Old Bridge

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 22 — Cheesequake State Park, Old Bridge, NJ Leader: Donna Schweitzer, Meet: 10 AM at trailhead parking lot. We will hike 4 to 5 miles. Rolling hills with some boardwalks, tree roots, and steps. Bring water and snack. Hiking boots required. Hiking poles recommended. We’ll pass by open fields, freshwater and saltwater marshes, pine trees, white cedar swamp, and northeastern hardwood forest. Upon entering the park, the trailhead will be the first parking lot on the left. There is no entrance fee for the off season. Please watch this site on the morning of the hike for any last minute changes/cancellations. Directions: CHEESEQUAKE STATE PARK, Matawan, NJCoordinates: N40° 26.11', W74° 15.86' (location of Park Entrance)Garden State Parkway south to exit 120. Make a slight right onto Matawan Rd. (Laurence Harbor Road, CR 626) In 0.2 miles turn right onto Cliffwood Rd. for 0.3 miles then right onto Gordon Rd. Reach the park entrance in 0.8 miles and continue about 0.3 miles further to park office and parking on the right.

WALK - RR-Greenway Trail, Metuchen, NJ
