Earth Drum Circle - August 2013

As you probably have realized the invites for the August Earth Drum Circle did not go out on a timely basis. This was because both Athena and I were out of town at the time and could not facilitate the circle. We would however still like to have a Drum Circle for the month of August. We just have to make the date a bit later than usual. Thus, the date of our next Earth Drum Circle will be Saturday, August 24th and will be held at our regular location in Central Park at Cherry Hill. Please RSVP to info@earthdrumcircle.com to let us know if you can make it so that we can get a head count. We look forward to seeing any and all that can attend.

On a side note, during the month of July I was lucky enough to attend Sirius Rising and Summerfest at Brushwood Folklore Center in upstate New York. Two back to back week long multicultural festivals that have all night bonfire drumming every night. I am one of the Fire Tenders at these festivals. During Summerfest I was graciously approached by Sera Solstice, a very gifted choreographer and belly dance teacher based here in NYC, to be one of the drummers in a "Community Dance" performance that she was choreographing for Thursday night on the Main Stage. She had asked me as she knows me from attending her Drum Circles at the belly dance studio she ran here in NYC for some time and she knew first hand that I was a somewhat decent drummer. It was exciting for me as it was my first time playing music on stage for an audience. Below is a link to download the audio file for the performance. Check it out! When: Saturday, August 24th at 4:00 p.m. (We head into the Park to the Drum Circle location at 4:30 sharp!)

Where: West 72nd Street & Central Park West - We meet at the benches on NE Corner just inside the entrance to the Park (If you reach the "Imagine" plaque at Strawberry Fields you have gone too far!) What to Bring: Yourself (feel free to bring friends along), your drum, and any other percussion or other instruments. A folding chair or ground covering and some sun block are also good to have on hand. Food and Drink for Potluck: Please try to bring some food and or drink to share as we are tying to make the Drum Circles more of a potluck to sustain our drumming energies.
