What we're about

This is a group for board gamers of all skill levels looking to get and be a part of the biggest (and absolute best) board game community in the Triangle! We welcome everyone from people just dipping their toes into the board game scene to that one guy who owns maybe a few too many expansions for Carcassonne to realistically ever play with. The idea is to meet up either on a weeknight or weekend day 4-5 times a month at different bars, have a few pints, play a few games, and make some new friends! I have access to a small library of games but bringing your favorites is definitely encouraged, looking forward to meeting everyone!

Board Games and Social Isolation at Your House!

Needs a location

Forward: Life is weird and the world is crazy right now folks, but we are stronger together even if we can't be together physically. We will take care of each other as best we can, any way that we can. If any of you out there are struggling please don't hesitate to reach out. Whether you are in need of some guidance figuring out the new unemployment rules, have run out of TP and need an emergency delivery, or just need a sympathetic ear to vent to, know that I'm here for you. If its not something I can do myself, well, there sure are a lot of us, I bet I can find a way to help. I know this is a rough time for all of us. Staying at home, not seeing your friends and family, worries about the future, it's a lot to take. Not having your hobby to enjoy on top of it is a bit of insult to injury. With that in mind I am starting a new weekly event for as long as it is needed, and all you need to access it is a computer! Here is how this works. I have created a Discord channel that can be accessed through this invite link: https://discord.gg/wYEPG2Y. If you've never used Discord before basically it is a communication platform that allows for free text and audio chat. I will moderate this channel and either myself (or you guys!) can create individual little side chats (either voice or text) for whatever game you have decided to play. I've created a handy guide for people to use to get set up for the first time, you can find it here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/16p6N1UeL2WMdlpG8G5KgH-ZURmR-KJsmpFqdBEN7S1w/edit?usp=sharing I know it is no substitute for getting out of the house and seeing people face to face, but I hope that this can curb the boredom in some small way. And of course, the Discord channel will be open to all 24/7, so please feel free to use it outside of the "meet" times. I will just be dedicated to moderating specifically during those times. If anyone finds a game or has suggestions, please let me know in the comments or email me at [masked]. We can and will get through this, stay safe, smart, and healthy everyone!

Board Game Party at Gamers Geekery & Tavern!

Gamers Geekery & Tavern

It's official, we are heading out to Gamers Geekery and Tavern on a more permanent schedule! I've mentioned this place a couple times before but its high time we go out for a visit. The place is not only super cool, its basically custom built for our hobby, so I am really excited it worked so well for us! This meet will run on opposite weekends from the Holiday Inn for the foreseeable future. I will be at least one of the two events here each month, otherwise we will have guest hosts (or occasionally the event will be hosted by Gamer's themselves!). Important note: Because this place has a MASSIVE library (I am talking 100's of games) and sprawling event space they charge a cover charge for the venue, but for a group our size that breaks down to $2.50 a head. So keep that in mind! This event is pretty simple, come on out, grab a name-tag if you want to be social, or don't if you feel like being all brooding and mysterious. (But seriously, grab one, it helps the awesome staff keep your orders straight) Usually we start off with some kind of big group game like Codenames, Werewolf, or BloodBourne then split off into smaller groups to play just about everything and anything else. That said, we've been having larger groups lately so if you see something you want to play and some people standing around feel free to dive right in! Looking for a way to help the group grow??
