Abstract: When used properly, scalable NoSQL datastores like DynamoDB can be a perfect fit for serverless applications. But especially if you come from the world of relational databases, NoSQL can be a deceptively user-friendly guide into madness. In this hands-on session, AWS Serverless Hero Forrest Brazeal will cover NoSQL use cases, model relational data in DynamoDB, and answer the most important question of all: is any of this a good idea when relational databases are still *right over there*?

Bio: Forrest Brazeal is a senior cloud architect at Trek10, an AWS Advanced Consulting Partner. An AWS Serverless Hero, Forrest hosts the "Think FaaS" podcast and interviews the top names in cloud for his “Serverless Superheroes” series at A Cloud Guru. He holds a master’s degree in computer science from Georgia Tech and is an AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.
