Next Meetup

Our Topic this Month: H.H. Holmes
We'll discuss the serial killer H.H. Holmes. A great book about his life and crimes is "Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic and Madness at the Fair that Changed America" by Erik Larson. Another easy-to-find book on Holmes is "Bestial: The Savage Trail of a True American Monster" by Harold Schechter. There are several other books you can choose at your local library about Holmes. If you prefer to watch a documentary I recommend "H.H. Holmes: America's First Serial Killer" which you can find on Amazon Prime and other places. Another interesting and somewhat controversial documentary series about Holmes is "American Ripper" on the History Channel which I believe you can watch online. Finally, a few podcasts that have covered Holmes include Generation Why, Serial Killers Podcast, History Dweebs, Last Podcast on the Left, Murder Road Trip and many others. You can do a search on iTunes for "H.H. Holmes" to find them. I look forward to seeing you all in August and to our conversation about the old-timey serial killer, H.H. Holmes!

What we're about

This meetup is for anyone interested in book and documentaries about True Crime subjects - infamous murders, serial killers, true crime mysteries and we might even delve into some conspiracies and/or urban legends. We will also be spending some time with current cases as they develop.

If you are fascinated by true crime murder mysteries, the psychology and "back" stories of serial killers or find yourself drawn to the details about infamous murder cases this group is for you! We meet every month to discuss a true crime book, film and/or documentary and talk about current true crime stories in the news. We hope you will join us for some fascinating discussions!

The group is lead by me, Esther Ludlow. I have a true crime podcast, Once Upon a Crime, that has over 100k listens per month. I have a degree in Correctional Psychology and I studied and worked in the criminal justice system.

You can listen to Once Upon a Crime online or on iTunes. I've provided links here:
