What we're about

There comes a time in every man’s life when he must answer two essential questions: Who am I as a man? And, what am I called to do with this life? In the absence of these questions, a man’s life revolves around doing chores, solving problems, working, providing & protecting, thinking, and living a life of “quiet desperation".

Usually, a man tries to answer these questions by himself. Or he joins a club or fraternity, the military, church, or business organization. He finds no answers there. Still, the questions linger ... unanswered, for years, decades, a lifetime.

One day, he arrives at a crossroads: a place where circumstances force him to consider these questions from a deeper place … a place in his body, in his gut, in his soul. Frighteningly, he knows he must answer them if his life is to have meaning and purpose. If he says yes, his life will never be the same. If he says no, his life will always be the same.

Long ago, the ancient elders, wise men, warriors, even the women knew the necessity of creating a space to answer those questions. The men and women knew that the transition from childhood to adulthood required a rite of passage, an initiation into manhood and womanhood. The men would take the young boys and teenagers away from the comfort of the tribe, from the warmth of the fire, from the protection of the mother. Into the darkness, into the wild places to test them, challenge them, teach them the ways of the tribe, and finally initiate them into manhood. When they returned from that adventure, the boys knew in the deepest part of themselves that they were now men, and they knew their place in their communities. The women and mothers would grieve the loss of the boy, and celebrate the return of the man.

In our time, we have culturally lost that journey into manhood. Yet, there is a place where that can be experienced in the modern era. That place is the New Warrior Training Adventure. When a man arrives here, he will, energetically, experience what boys experienced for thousands of years: an adventure into what it means to be a man. And to discover, maybe for the first time, what the purpose and mission of his life could be if he claims it.

If these words stir you, you might be ready to step into the Adventure of Your Life. Maybe for you, it is finally time, for time is running out.

Men's Open Circle (in person)

The Drawing Studio, Inc.

Please join us (AZ time) for a facilitated Men's "Open Circle" where you can share (or not) what's on your mind, seek input from other men, connect and build community. Until recently all of these meetings were held around a firepit in one of our member's backyards. We are now meeting both in person and "virtually" until the pandemic abates. The only requirements we have (upfront) are that you show up sober, on time, ready to engage in your deepest issues, and that you maintain the privacy of all attendees. The "in person" meetings are held every other Thursday night (mark your calendar!). We request that you RSVP (send an email to [masked]) so that we can make sure the facility is set up properly. These meetings are held at The Drawing Studio, 2760 N Tucson Blvd and your host is Anthony Avila.
