IMMEDIATE RELEASE!
Tucson, AZ — Interfaith Community Services’ annual Fall Food Drive kicks off October 1 through October 31 aiming to stock ICS food banks with essential provisions to support individuals and families in
need throughout the holiday season.
Community members are encouraged to participate by donating non-perishable food items at public collection sites located across the city.
Thanks to new and expanded partnerships, this year’s drive offers more public collection sites than ever before. See the full list of collection sites in this release. The Fall Food Drive is the biggest food drive of the year at ICS. In addition to collecting pantry staples to stock the Northwest and Mobile Food Banks, the Drive brings in seasonal foods that allow ICS clients to enjoy a special holiday meal with their families.
"For families living paycheck to paycheck, a simple trip to the grocery store can mean sacrificing heat, rent, or the ability to get to work," says Tom McKinney, CEO of ICS. "During the holidays, these hard choices become even more painful. A food box from ICS not only relieves financial pressure—it also brings dignity, tradition, and hope to the table. That sense of support and connection is what truly strengthens our community."
During the Fall Food Drive, ICS asks for donations of holiday food items such as instant or fresh potatoes and yams, cranberry sauce, canned green beans and corn, cream of mushroom soup, boxed or bagged stuffing mix, gravy mix or canned gravy, and canned pumpkin. Monetary
donations are also being collected at icstucson.org/donate to purchase holiday food items for families in need.
Donations of pantry staples are welcome year-round. The most-needed items include peanut butter, canned meats (tuna, chicken, and Spam), pop-top canned meals like chili and ravioli, canned fruits and vegetables, canned pasta sauce and pasta, as well as diapers (both child and adult sizes) and wipes.
ICS invites organizations of all kinds to participate in the Fall Food Drive by hosting a team drive. Schools, faith communities, workplaces, clubs, neighborhoods, sports teams, scout troops, and other groups are encouraged to collect food as a team, then drop off a group
donation at an ICS location or partner site. Participating groups will be highlighted on ICS social media with the hashtag #ICSfallfood.
