Agile Book Club- "Agile Estimating and Planning" by Mike Cohn

Online event

Discuss Parts V and VI of "Agile Estimating and Planning" by Mike Cohn

What are we going to create? How much is this going to cost? When will it be ready? Yes, even in the most agile of environments- these are burning (and uncomfortable) questions requiring answers that go beyond 'it depends'. So how do we balance flexibility with predictability? Let's explore this together as we read Mike Cohn's "Agile Estimating and Planning".

TIP- Amazon has used copies available for purchase for under $10. This is the kind of book you may want a hard copy of to fill with highlights and sticky notes, to refer to later on.

Do you have a long backlog of books you want to read, but never seem to find the time? Join us- and let our mutual accountability help you get started.

Do you want to share what you’ve learned, and enrich that learning by hearing others’ perspectives? Come and be a part of our book club.

Do you want to strengthen your network through meaningful, focused, fun conversation? Let’s talk books!

HOW IT WORKS:

We meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month. At each session, we’ll discuss a few sections of the current book, until we’ve gone through the whole book. Once we’ve finished, we’ll move on to another book.

As you read, note down the following 3 impressions from each section to share:

The “Aha”: Something that clicked, or that was surprising or interesting.

The “Uh-oh”: Something that makes you feel uncomfortable

The “What now?”: What can you do right away with this? / What will you do differently?

ABOUT THE AGILE BOOK CLUB:

We’ve been meeting monthly, for about a 2 years now. The books we’ve read and discussed so far include “Co-Active Coaching” by Karen and Henry Kinsey-House, “Kanban” by David J. Anderson, “User Story Mapping” by Jeff Patton, "Radical Focus" by Christina Wodtke, "The Sketchnote Handbook" by Mike Rohde, "Sprint" by Jake Knapp et al., "When Coffee and Kale Compete" by Alan Klement, "Large Scale Scrum" By Larman and Vodde, "7 Rules for Positive, Productive Change" by Esther Derby, "The Fifth Discipline" by Peter Senge and "Switch" by Chip and Dan Heath. Our discussions are always energizing and interesting. If you'd like to join us, you are more than welcome!
