What we're about

We meet approximately weekly to discuss philosophy topics and other interesting questions in a Café Philosophique or Socrates Cafe style. Participants propose questions. We vote on the questions and discuss the questions with the most votes. An academic background in philosophy is not required - only a desire to explore ideas in a friendly environment.

A primary goal of the U District Philosophy Cafe is to be inclusive to the largest number of participants, with the most varied and diverse backgrounds possible. As such, we are committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and religion (or lack thereof). To this end we expect everyone to abide by our code of conduct https://www.meetup.com/U-District-Philosophy-Cafe/pages/Code_of_Conduct
