£19.00

We're going on a day trip to Windsor, Eton & Windsor Castle. The picturesque town of Windsor sits on the River Thames and is a quintessentially English town with its cobbled streets and quaint tea rooms. Its long history goes back to Norman times, and you'll see buildings from the 17th century, the scenic riverside area, the shortest street in Britain, a crooked house, a former London Underground station, and one of the most famous schools in the country. Windsor Castle is the largest and oldest inhabited castle in the world, and an official residence of The Queen, and used regularly to host state visits and formal ceremonies. Towering above the town on a steep chalk mound, the castle is set in 5000 acres of parkland and captures over 900 years of British history. We’ll explore the grandeur of the State Apartment to discover paintings and treasures from the Royal Collection, visit the resting place of past monarchs in the spectacular St George’s Chapel and see Queen Mary’s famous doll’s house, the Grand Reception Room, and St George’s Hall. We’ll also see the ceremonial Changing of the Guard - a British tradition and perfect photo opportunity. Day trip to Brighton on Sun 10 Mar

Eventim Apollo

£26.00

We're going on a day trip to Brighton. Brighton is one of the most vibrant, colourful and creative cities in Europe. It's known for its stunning heritage of the Royal Pavilion, Regency architecture, Victorian aquariums, Brighton Pier, the remains of the West Pier (which burned down in 2003), the Brighton Wheel, the world's oldest operating electric railway (the Volk's Electric Railway), the famous pebble beach which runs for 5 miles, the old town shopping Lanes as well as the seafront bars, restaurants, nightclubs, sports facilities and amusement arcades. In the 17th century, Brighton grew quickly to become the largest and important town in the county of Sussex. But foreign attacks, storms, a decline in the fishing industry caused its economy to suffer. In the 18th century, it developed in popularity as a health resort and people flocked to the city to feel the energising effects of the sea and invigorating fresh air sweeping off the English Channel. It also became a boarding point for boats travelling to France. The town grew further by the patronage of the Prince Regent (later King George IV) who spent much of his leisure time there and constructed the Royal Pavilion. After the railway reached the town in 1841 it became a popular destination for visitors from London. TRIP COST: We're going by coach, leaving from near Hammersmith station, and places are limited.
