UMakers enables community members to design, prototype and create manufactured works that wouldn't be possible to create with the resources available to individuals working alone.

Find out more at https://www.umakers.org/ Or here https://sites.google.com/a/umakers.org/umakersmembers/courses-sbu-s Learn how to use a laser cutter to cut, etch, and engrave designs in a variety of materials up to 20x 12" and up to 1/8" thick in this Safety and Basic Use (SBU) class. Work with acrylic, wood, paper, cardboard, fabric, leather, and even chocolate! Cost: Free Here's samples of things you could make. Sample Club (https://www.epiloglaser.com/resources/sample-club.htm) Please bring a laptop. We have Fios wireless internet. For those who do not already know or have vector graphics software, we will use the Free Inkscape software. Please download it and become familiar with it at https://inkscape.org/en/ Prerequisite(s): None. However, familiarity with graphics software will be helpful. Equipment access: Laser cutter Minimum age: 14 years Supervision requirements: During class, all 14 to 18 -year-old students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also enrolled in the class. When using the laser cutter outside of class time, 14-18 -year-old members must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian who has passed the SBU. Safety: Closed-toed shoes are mandatory. If you become a member of our club, you can use this equipment for your projects whenever you work at UMakers!
