What is your favorite urban space and why?

I love all the random urban gardens tucked between buildings. To me, they epitomize how cities should be using vacant space. However small a plot is, it should not be left unused to decay. I love how urban community gardens use this land to improve access to healthy food, bring communities together through gardening, and make the block a better place to live.

What do you hope to get from URBAN SPACEship?

I basically want to learn from people, especially native New Yorkers, who have a lot more experiential knowledge than I do. I'm looking for some new perspectives on cities and new approaches to addressing urban issues.

I'm a student at Dartmouth College living in the big city for the first time this summer. I've been studying cities, environmental justice, government, urban planning, humans... and I'm eager to learn from New York experts this summer.
