What we're about

Are you looking for a sense of community?? Are you in your twenties, thirties, forties, or consider yourself to be young at heart? The UU Oakland Young Adult Group may be just what you're looking for! We host potlucks, community outings, film screenings, and other fun events to help us build a sense of community together.

The UU Young Adult Group is for anyone 18-40+ (and those young at heart, no age limit!) who are interested in Unitarian Universalism (or not), building community, or just want to have fun. We are committed to building an inclusive community that welcomes ALL people. We are a diverse group that celebrates people of all ethnicities, sexual orientations, genders, and spiritual practices/traditions.

What the heck is UU you ask? It stands for Unitarian Universalism. From the First Unitarian Church of Oakland website:

"We are brave, curious, and compassionate thinkers and doers. We are diverse in faith, ethnicity, history and spirituality, but aligned in our desire to make a difference for the good. We have a track record of standing on the side of love, justice, and peace.

We have radical roots and a history as self-motivated spiritual people: we think for ourselves and recognize that life experience influences our beliefs more than anything.

We need not think alike to love alike. We are people of many beliefs (http://www.uua.org/beliefs/who-we-are/beliefs) and backgrounds (http://www.uua.org/beliefs/who-we-are/backgrounds): people with a religious background, people with none, people who believe in a God, people who don’t, and people who let the mystery be."
