After a long break, we're excited to announce the first UX Sketch Out of 2015, brought to you once again with the fantastic assistance of our venue and refreshment sponsors, Argos at their wonderful London Victoria Hub Office.

Argos as the second largest retailer in Britain, and with most people having had an Argos' laminated book of dreams in their home at some point, Argos doesn't really need much of an intro! What you might not know, however, is Argos' drive to disrupt the norm in retail and the web. As such, it's looking to you to design and develop its future. If you'd like to help shape Argos' vision, please check out: https://www.linkedin.com/company/3675462?trk

Food: Argos have also kindly sponsored us for food and drink! There'll be pizza and coke :-)

This month's brief

Client: HocusPocus VR

Background:

HocusPocus VR the pioneer in VR headsets, has announced their latest headset, the HocusPocus Sift. It's a top secret project and as one of their top designers, they've asked you and your team at HocusPocus VR to create a suite of specialised software for professional use.

They have outlined a series of professionals who would make use of the headset:

Surgeon,

Mechanic,

Plumber,

Airline pilot (training and simulation),

Police training,

Psychologists / Therapists and or their patients

Online prostitution

Choose the professional you'd like to design a VR software for.

Core things to think about designing:

How would this app help the user in their professional area?

What things would a VR headset do that could help the professional? Can you describe and design it step by step?

Why would this professional use the VR? Why not just keep with traditional methods?

When would the user be using this? What kind of situations?

What are the challenges the user might face?

Would you put in a UI? If so, what would the UI look like? How would you select options on the UI? Eye tracking? Blinking to select? Or pressing buttons on your headset?

Your biggest constraint:

DO NOT design the physical headset. Assume this will look just like an Oculus Rift.

Things to think about:

Are there any other professionals who could use this?
