What weâre about
Hey there! đ
Come hang with us every month for UX book chats and socializing. If you're into human-centered design, HCI, product design, etc, we'd love for you to join us. Each month, we pick a book or article to dive into, post it here, and meet in person to talk about it. Give it a read, or just skim if you're short on time â no pressure! All are welcome to connect with our Chicago UX community.
Got a cool UX story or some insights of your own? Share away! We're all ears for new topics to dive into or new meeting locations to try. Hope to see ya soon! âď¸đ

Do I need to read the book to attend?
Nope! We will have a few questions for the group to kick things off. We're a social group and we like to talk shop about all things UX. The book topics are a great icebreaker for us and there's always something new to learn!
How do you decide where to hold events?
Member recommendations and word of mouth. We are always looking for new and fun event spaces. You can find a list of the awesome businesses that have hosted us previously here.
If you are interested in hosting us, please contact Chris through Meetup.com, or slide into the DMs on the gram

One in five people in the United States lives with a disability. Some disabilities are visible, others less apparentâbut all are underrepresented in media and popular culture. Activist Alice Wong brings together this urgent, galvanizing collection of contemporary essays by disabled people, just in time for the thirtieth anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act,
From Harriet McBryde Johnsonâs account of her debate with Peter Singer over her own personhood to original pieces by authors like Keah Brown and Haben Girma; from blog posts, manifestos, and eulogies to Congressional testimonies, and beyond: this anthology gives a glimpse into the rich complexity of the disabled experience, highlighting the passions, talents, and everyday lives of this community. It invites readers to question their own understandings. It celebrates and documents disability culture in the now. It looks to the future and the past with hope and love.
âDisability rights activist Alice Wong brings tough conversations to the forefront of society with this anthology. It sheds light on the experience of life as an individual with disabilities, as told by none other than authors with these life experiences. Itâs an eye-opening collection that readers will revisit time and time again.â âChicago Tribune
