Rapid Design/Research Innovation Workshop: June 30
Details
Are you ready to level up your design, prototyping and research game with a cheaper, faster way to innovation? We want to teach you how to build the right thing for your audience faster than you can now.
On Saturday, June 30, UX Speakeasy, HP, and DowntownWorks are hosting a workshop that will teach you how to rapidly design, research and iterate toward innovative solutions. It’s a simple but powerful twist on what can sometimes be a long cycle of research and design, and you are going to walk away with new, tangible skills you can put to work right away. Here are the details:
-
Presumptive Design is a design research method that reduces risk by quickly identifying key customer delights (and objections!) to your desired future outcome.
-
The method is fast: it shortens time to insights from months to days. Presumptive Design is a fundamentally agile approach to identifying your audiences’ key needs.
____________
Presumptive Design: Design-based Research to Drive Innovation
As UX professionals we often find ourselves at the cutting edge of technologies. But how often can we truly impact our stakeholders' beliefs about the future? How often can we validate the problem statements provided to us before the engineering and marketing teams have defined a solution?
UX Speakeasy is excited to host internationally acclaimed author Leo Frishberg for a ½ day workshop introducing Presumptive Design, his artifact-based design research method. Presumptive Design is a powerful, quick and inexpensive approach you apply at a project’s outset to influence its strategy, identify pervasive problems and validate stakeholder assumptions about their intended solution.
Working in small groups, attendees will learn and apply Presumptive Design (PrD), discovering how a simple twist to our usual research + design approach can deliver surprising and provocative results.
____________
Workshop attendees will walk away with:
- The theoretical framework that underlies PrD
- Hands-on experience applying the process to a design problem
- Understanding the difference between PrD artifacts and prototypes
- Experience with the full PrD process
- A copy of Presumptive Design: Design Provocations for Innovation
Lunch will be provided.
To gain the most from this intensive workshop, attendees should have 4+ years’ experience in UX research, design or strategy.
Leo Frishberg is Principal of Phase II, a design consultancy. Author, architect, design manager, Frishberg brings 30+ years’ experience to his workshop facilitation to craft an “awesome,” “life-changing” engagement.
Cost for the above is $80 (snacks, lunch, prototyping materials, Presumptive Design paperback book and all the insights you can eat).
