About This Webinar

Supporting the education of aspiring learners through experience-led design is a complex challenge. However, the highly rewarding opportunities that it can offer can be of benefit to both the individual and the business alike. Catalysed by the pandemic, we've seen a huge spike in the requirement of online learning solutions and as the Edtech industry continues to expand exponentially, so does our understanding of its importance to the new modern society.

In this event, we'll explore the amplified role of human-centred design principles within this space and their impact on designing the incremental growth of the learning experience. We'll be analysing the activators for learning, to develop a better understanding of how we can utilise this within our design process. We will then aim to apply some cross-disciplinary frameworks and practical tools in order to uncover motivation and start to build products which nudge positive behaviours. Finally, we'll discuss the "singularity" of the perfect design for the learning experience, to understand the exciting opportunities this promotes for our future, which will lead into a panel with all speakers about the future of work and how we design for it.

Featuring:
Sarah Bacerra - Learning Experience Designer
Alex Britez - Director of UX - Macmillan Learning
George Zhang - Director of UX Research - Course Hero

Sarah Bacerra -The 10 Activators of a Desire to Learn-

In this session, we will investigate the activators of a desire for learning and how we can build that context into the INSPIRATION phase of human-centered design, equating to better learning design and faster upskilling.

Whether you are a learning experience designer, UX designer, or someone who just wants to better understand the psychology behind our drivers for learning something new, this session will benefit YOU.

Alex Britez - Understanding Student Behaviour

We will kick off this session and explore a practical toolset to help us unearth what students are trying to do, how they are doing it, the circumstances in which they are doing it, and most importantly what are the outcomes they and others adjacent to them are hoping to achieve. Once we understand these foundational elements, we could start to bring in elements of behavioural design to nudge learners towards better learning habits.

George Zhang - Singularity, learning and the future

Discussing the emerging trends in the domain of Education Technology and the convergence (i.e. “singularity”) of three underlying forces - students’ education needs, advances of learning technologies, as well as the evolving contents (what you need to learn). The singularity renders exciting challenges and opportunities for us who work hard to build desirable, effective, efficient and friendly online solutions for now and for the foreseeable future. With this talk, you’ll take away some food for thought that could inspire you in your daily work of research, design, product and or marketing in EdTech and beyond.
