HOW IT WORKS Every third Thursday we'll meet in the evening to talk about a UX/UX related design book. It would of course be great if you get round to actually reading the book; however, if you only manage to read parts of it, that is totally fine, too. We will provide a short summary at the beginning to refresh your memory and to make sure everyone can take part in the discussion. WHAT'S THIS MONTH'S BOOK? 'Practical Empathy For Collaboration and Creativity in Your Work', by Indi Young *** The publisher kindly offered UX Vienna Book Club members a 30% discount code for the print edition (https://rosenfeldmedia.com/books/practical-empathy/). Just send me (Sabine Ballata) a message (here on Meetup) and I will send you the code! *** WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENS AT THE UxVIENNA BOOK CLUB? After a short round of introductions, we will jump right in with a summary of the book’s main topics. For the discussion, we have some questions prepared–if you get a chance, we would love for you to also think of some questions or topics you want to discuss. And last, but not least, we will vote for the next books to read. Please think of some suggestions and add them here: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/773074-ux-vienna-book-club. WHAT LANGUAGE? Since most UX books are in English, we will mostly stick to English - if everybody speaks German, too, we can mix it up :) HOW ABOUT FOOD AND DRINKS? We will provide some drinks and small snacks. For proper food, we can order dinner at the beginning of the evening. What happens at the UX Vienna Evening Meetup (formerly Interaction Design Stammtisch)? We gather at 7pm and supply ourselves with drinks. We welcome our first-time visitors and do a round of introduction. We plan tonight's meetup topics. Geeks like myself prepare a talk with slides, and pre-announce it on https://UXvienna.at/ongoing/. Others improvise and shout out a subject they want to discuss. Both ways are fine. More at https://UXvienna.at/join/#minitalk We try to make a more or less strict agenda with ~3 topics — each time-boxed with 30 minutes. So we will be done with the topics around 9pm and have some more casual talks and in-depth-discussions afterwards. We do that in order to keep some focus on content and that nobody is bored with a topic she's not interested in. Collaboratively we document each UX Vienna Evening Meetup at https://UXvienna.at/ongoing/. Check out to see what kept us busy and what you might have missed so far. We do speak English. UX Vienna Evening Meetups are on the 2nd tuesday of every month — 12 times a year. UX Vienna announcements are available at https://meetup.com/UXvienna. In addition you can follow us on https://UXvienna.at and https://twitter.com/UXvienna. We are looking forward to seeing you!
