PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT JUST RSVP, YOU WILL NEED TO REPLY VIA EMAIL TO [masked] Your organisers are pleased to announce our final event for 2020 on Sunday 20 December on Stage 88 in Commonwealth Park. We have permission to use the covered stage area, so this event will proceed even if the weather is poor. RSVP essential We need to keep a record of attendees/contact information, so RSVPs for this event will need to go to [masked], with your name, phone contact and the date of the event. Program for the afternoon We are still finalising the program for the afternoon. Our plan is to mix up some short (up to three songs) performances from members or URoC ensembles, with sing along/play along sessions. Expressions of interest to perform are sought. It can be just one song, or several, and any number of performers. EOIs to Michael at [masked] by Friday 11 December. Once we have a program we will put it up on the Meetup site. For the performances, there will be a PA system set up by Andrew and Charlie. Special singalong book for this event A special book of about 40 songs including a few Xmas songs has been prepared by Michael and Carl which will be published online. The songs have been selected from the nearly 200 performed over the past eight months on Song of the Week or by members who have participated in the Friday Virtual Meetups. This songbook will be published shortly. Those who RSVP will get a link to the Dropbox location. You will need to print out the songbook or load it on to your electronic device. COVID requirements COVID safe requirements recently updated by ACT Government allow outdoor events with reduced physical distancing of two square metres per person. However, URoC organisers recommend that we keep to the four metres per person standard or at least as much space as possible while singing. There will be enough room on Stage 88 for this. You may bring your own food and drink, including alcohol. However, glass is not allowed in Commonwealth Park so bring cans or plastic. What to bring As for other outdoor events, bring a chair, your music stand and uke, the special songbook, some insect repellent, hat, water, food and drink if you want. Cost Cost will be $10 per person which includes the event, the digital downloadable new 2020 Xmas songbook, and a ticket in a raffle for a new Concert Ukulele donated by Andrew. The raffle will be drawn at the event. Donations of used ukes and instruments As it is Christmas, we will collect any usable and functioning instruments and equipment that members no longer require for donation to Grow the Music or to the Friends of Lacluta who support music programs in East Timor. Bring them to the event or contact Beverley about this. Parking and toilets Closest parking is at the Stage 88 carpark next to Regatta Point. There is untimed free parking there on weekends and toilets near the carpark. You could also park over near the Olympic pool and use the pedestrian overbridge over Parkes Way.
