3D Digital art and computer graphics are used for creating animated films, visual effects, 3D printing, interactive 3D applications, and video games. Everything from Toy Story The Movie to Apple, the computer company heavily utilize 3D digital art.

The class will start with conveying the value of modeling and animation by showing the professional, technical, and artistic opportunities for someone who understands 3D modeling and animation. During the class students will learn how to use free software to create 3D digital Art and animation. The course will enable students to begin to create and animate from their imagination.

The topics in the course will be:

Learning the Software interface

Creating geometric objects like cubes and cylinders

Moving objects in 3 dimensions

Creating new shapes from existing objects

Materials and colors

Virtual Camera control

Creating print and video worthy scenes and animations

GOAL:

By the end of the course, students will be capable of doing a simple model and animation of their own.

THINGS TO BRING:

Equipment needs for the course are just a computer and a 3 button (two buttons with a mouse wheel) mouse. The software needed is Blender 3D, which is completely free. Blender runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux, so as long as you have a full operating system, it should work fine.
