Unhurried Conversation - Online Denver

We all need a place to express ourselves and listen to other perspectives. We welcome all perspectives to join in an unhurried conversation with respect and kindness.

In an unhurried conversation, there is time to think differently and connect with people in a refreshing way. Unhurried isn't always slow, but it has a pace where people find it easy to join in and not feel crowded out. And listening is as important and can be as satisfying as talking.

It's actually pretty simple. Here's how it works. After a brief introduction attendees can request the floor, by holding up a personal object in front of their camera. Then they have the floor until they stop, and again hold up their object in front of the camera. It can be short (less than a minute) or long (maybe up to five minutes). Everyone else actively listens. If no one speaks, we enjoy some silence for a few moments until someone is ready. We'll take a few minutes at the beginning of each meeting to refresh the attendees on the process.

Please make sure your video camera and microphone are set up ahead of time and bring a topic for conversation if you wish, or just show up to listen.

Our conversation will begin at 5:00 pm (Mtn Timezone) and lasts from 60-75 minutes. We limit the attendees to 12 to ensure the best opportunity for everyone to participate if they choose to. Feel free to get on a waiting list as there are usually a few attendees who cannot attend as planned. If you RSVP and are not able to attend, let us know so we can give your spot to someone else. Also, if you don't have email notifications turned on in your MeetUp settings you will have to go to MeetUp and select the event to find the Zoom Link. If you have email notifications you should have a link to the event available to you.
