Baldwin Park Glamour Shot Day
United Hope for Animals' Glamour Shot Days: *Note: Make sure you fill out the volunteer application on our website before RSVPing for a Glamour Shot Day: Help us save the lives of homeless pets by lending a hand on a UHA Glamour Shot Day. Work with us at the shelter to handle dogs and cats, name them, socialize with them and get to know their personalities, and hold them for photography and video. We also need expert photographers (**must be pre-approved**) and videographers who are good at narration. (If you don't mind speaking on camera, we'll train you to do the rest.) We provide doughnuts and encouragement, and you bring your self in a sturdy pair of jeans and shoes you don't mind getting a little dirty. :) We are there from 8:30 a.m. until about 1 p.m. but you can come anytime to help out and stay as long as you are able. If you plan on staying for a longer time it's a good idea to bring a snack and a drink. First time volunteers should arrive at 10:00 a.m. when the shelter opens to the public. To find us go walk through the main office to the kennels and walk though the kennels until you get to the back and go left. When you see a group of people with cameras, videos and dogs on leashes then you are in the right place. All Glamour Shot Day participants must be 18 years of age or older. For safety reasons, please wear long pants, close-toed shoes, and leave your jewelry at home. Exuberant puppies and earrings do not make a good combination! A Note for First-Time Volunteers: As a first-time Glamour Shot Day participant, you will shadow an experienced volunteer to learn more about the shelter and our process. If you decide to become a regular participant at Glamour Shot Day, you will also need to complete the Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control volunteer orientation, offered monthly. Having your own health insurance is strongly recommended. Every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month we take Glamour Shots and videos of up to 60 dogs and cats, and 94% of these homeless pets are adopted or rescued as a result. There are plenty of behind-the-scenes volunteer roles that are necessary to make this result possible. We need volunteers to upload videos to YouTube, post pet profiles to Petfinder, write stories for our website and more! If you are interested in helping out via a computer or telephone, please let us know. We'll find the right job for you!

What we're about

United Hope for Animals

Through our Shelter Support Program, we partner with local, high-intake shelters to give homeless pets the best chance possible of finding new homes. We advocate for over 160 shelter pets a month, and have a 96% success rate in getting these dogs and cats into safe and loving adoptive or foster homes.

It all starts with our "Glamour Shot Day," when we visit the shelter to photograph, video, and get to know the personalities of up to 80 dogs and cats. We work with dogs of all breeds, breed mixes, ages and sizes. We then post their information online, advocate for them, and help them find new homes. Watch a video of a typical "Glamour Shot" day here:

We also hold adoption events to help rescued dogs who are still looking for a home of their own meet potential adopters.

If you love dogs and cats and would like to be a part of making their lives a little better, join us! We need volunteer dog handlers, photographers (*pre-approval required), video narrators, writers, adoption coordinators, and people who want to help by uploading videos to YouTube and posting pet profiles online.

However you'd like to contribute, let us know! Open your heart and meet other like-minded dog lovers who give a few hours of their time every month to get together and do some good for man's best friend. (A complete list of volunteer opportunities is available here (
