Heart Disease in Women an Evolving Paradigm with Donna Vander Grinten
This presentation will provide an overview of heart disease. Distinguishing how heart disease presents differently in women than men, including a review of how "chest pain" and heart attack symptoms may vary in men and women.
Once a woman has a heart attack or heart disease is diagnosed - her prognosis varies from that of her male counterpart. These differences, as well as, common diagnostic tests and interventions will be reviewed. Risk factors for heart disease vary across a woman's life span and modification of these risk factors has been shown to reduce the incidence of heart disease and it's complications. Therefore, strategies for prevention and risk modification will conclude the presentation.
