What we're about

We are a warm, caring Unitarian Universalist congregation that appreciates diversity, values intellectual curiosity, knows how to have fun, and seeks to honour and preserve the world and all its inhabitants. We gather in a community to celebrate the beauty and mystery of life in this world, and support one another as we face life’s challenges. While we share and affirm Unitarian Universalist Principles, we believe that each person walks their own path in search of truth and meaning and requires the freedom to follow it. We are an open-minded and pluralistic community of free thinkers that includes and welcomes those from many faith traditions, doubters, seekers, and atheists. We strive as a community to act with integrity, courage, and purpose.

Answering the Religious Right with The Big Heart of Universalism

This sermon was published by the Rev. Scott Alexander and has been edited for our purposes by Lori Turner Otte. We will explore the history of Universalism and learn how its' theology can be used to answer the religious right. It is about awakening to the fact that in this fractured world we are all called to be evangelists and answer the call of inclusive love.

General Information about Sunday Services once we return to meeting in person:

Our Sunday Service meets year-round at 10:45am and is central to our religious life and community. We draw on a variety of sources and traditions, and address themes ranging from social concerns to spiritual growth. Our services have many common elements including music and congregational singing, spoken and silent meditation, the sharing of joys and concerns, and a Time for All Ages for our children.

Services can vary from week to week and may include a sermon from our minister or a member of the congregation, or a presentation from a guest speaker from the larger community. Some services may include discussion and small group activities. There are also a number of Family Friendly Services each year when all ages can participate together.

Please come as you are and know you will be welcome! Folks are invited to stay for refreshments following the service when they can mingle and get to know one another better.

Children's Religious Exploration Programming

Programming for children aged 0-16 runs concurrently to our Adult Services during the September to June church year. When we have a Family Friendly Service (approximately once a month) Children aged 6 and up attend with their parents. Childcare is available for younger children during these times.

Special Guest Rev. Peter Boulatta

Becoming Conscious”
The feminist and gay liberation movements pioneered a method of connecting personal experience with the power dynamics at play in society at large. Known as “consciousness raising,” this small group encounter of individuals speaking their truths created enormous social change. How does personal awakening happen and how might it lead to social justice? How might spiritual practice — a paradigm shift of the heart — revolutionize social relations?
