This location recently opened two years ago and parts of it look like it's being developed. It is a tranquil place that is dotted with buddhist statues and has a temple at the top. Beautiful views from the top. This is a moderate to easy hike. There is a parking lot at the bottom and lots of cement stairs before you hit the trail. Most of the stairs have a railing. From the bottom parking lot it is 3 miles to the top and back. There are restrooms at the halfway point. Please wear hiking shoes or any shoes with traction. Although half the hike is paved the other half is loose gravel with a steady incline to the top. There is no shade on the trail but parts of the staircase is shaded by trees and lined with benches. Please bring water and snacks. There are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view from the halfway point.
Almaden Quicksilver Hike! We will be hiking about 4.5- 5 miles. It is an easy to moderate hike if you're a regular hiker, it will be a moderate to challenging hike if it is your first time hiking (depending on your prior fitness level). This hike should take about 1.5- 2 hours. Parking will be in a residential neighborhood near the entrance. There are port-a-potty's at the beginning of the trail. Parts of the trail are shaded, other parts are in full sun if it is sunny. Please bring water and a snack! There are no water fountains on the trail. Please arrive early! I'll be waiting at the trail entrance next to the street, wearing a red hoodie and a small camelback. Hike starts at 6:30a I will begin the hike at 6:35a, no later than 6:37a. If you cannot make the hike please remember to remove your RSVP as soon as possible. Hope to see you there!
